We will see.
I have officially been bitten by some sort of *nesting* bug. This morning I dove right into making the guest room ready for the midwives to arrange the birth supplies. This included cleaning the van, since I needed to get the Weecycled stuff OUT of the guest room, and install the infant seat base in the van (since that's one thing on the midwives' list of things to do...of course in the event we end up with a hospital transfer/birth and need somewhere for a baby to ride :). It's getting so profoundly real now that the seat base is installed. Wowy.
At the moment I'm in the midst of washing ALL the birth linens (towels, washcloths, sheets, pillow cases, receiving blankets), and I already washed ALL the bedding for the guest bed. Trev stayed with us this past weekend while Mom and Dad went away for their 31st anniversary (I need to make a post with some pictures about that, come to think of it...). So just in case the midwives end up needing to sleep there, the mattress pad, sheets/pillowcases and comforter are all delightfully fresh!!! I also cleaned out 2 drawers of the dresser in that room, and arranged all the baby stuff: newborn sleep n plays, onesies, socks, hats, the head scrubber, stethoscope, thermometer, olive oil for the bum (to keep meconium from sticking), nasal aspirator & newborn diapers. The second drawer I filled with my collected birth supplies (instead of a tote like I did last time) and in the tote I put all the clean towels, sheets and extra pillows. I also cleared the top of the dresser for their tray--a cookie sheet (they'll set that up with a chux pad and their fancy tools and some items from the kit at the 36 week visit, which is a week from today; the 11th). I also put the crock pot on top of it with the bag full of clean washcloths for warm compresses. This way they can see everything I have and it's all ready to grab and use wherever we need it. Mom loaned me her handy-dandy heating pad, and I already put it in a clean pillowcase, folded it and put it back into the box to keep it clean and easy to find.

I'm also making lists... the few things I still need:
~aloe vera gel (100% pure)
~witch hazel
~calcium-magnesium-for homemade Labor-Aid
~lemons-the same
~a few snack foods for labor (fruit, wheat thins, cheese sticks, etc)
~Recharge (which Drew is going to get at a store in Richmond)
~and a few candles--just because they're relaxing :)
I also made a few Pandora stations...I have some Grooveshark playlists for labor, but last time I wasn't in the mood for half of what I'd chosen, so this time I'll just switch stations for whatever I feel like.

Once again, I find this so interesting. Better you than me of course but interesting none the less! :-) I hope your labor goes as you hope for it to.
ReplyDeleteOh my. This is all so exciting! And it IS coming up fast. Wow! I'll be praying for you!
